Charles Kyle Adcock, a former youth minister in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, was arrested last Wednesday for charges of sexually abusing a minor.
The girl, who was under the age of 16 at the time of the assaults, is said to have been victimized both on church property and at Adcock’s former Muscle Shoals residence.
Adcock worked with the Woodward Avenue Baptist Church as a youth pastor from December 2008 until May of 2012.
Adcock is charged with 22 counts of rape and 9 counts of sodomy. Police are working on bringing Adcock back to Alabama to face these charges after he was arrested last week in Texas.
The church community was shaken when the news of Adcock’s arrest was discovered. “The Church as a whole was shocked,” said senior pastor Dr. William Rushing who addressed the congregation last week. “You have a lot of people who knew him, who put their trust in him. There were lots of tears at our service.”
At this time, it is unclear whether or not Adcock was made to undergo a background check prior to his work with the church.
