A youth soccer coach in California has been relieved of his position with the Orangevale Youth Soccer League following his arrest for attempting to commit lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under the age of 14.

Timothy Nosal, 48, was arrested after he attempted to meet an individual who he thought was a 13-year old girl at a park in California. Detectives with Placer County Sherriff’s Department became aware of Nosal’s intentions after they discovered an “allegedly provocative” ad online posted by Nosal. When detectives posing as a 13-year-old girl began communicating with Nosal via e-mail, they got a response.

“He made it very clear what his intentions were through his emails with the detective,” said Dena Erwin of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. “They were very specific.”

Nosal, who works as an environmental scientist with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, could face a 1-2 year prison sentence if convicted and a lifetime as a registered sex offender.
